SomaliaSIG
Inaugural edition — 2026

The Somalia School on Internet Governance

SomaliaSIG is a multistakeholder educational initiative that introduces internet governance to Somalia's students, policymakers, technologists, and civil society, in alignment with the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

Convened by the ISOC Somalia Chapter

Somalia's digital growth has outpaced its governance capacity. SomaliaSIG exists to close that gap — one cohort at a time.
About the school

A neutral space for a shared conversation

SomaliaSIG brings together government, telecom operators, technology hubs, academic institutions, and civil society around a single, structured curriculum — building a common understanding of how the internet is governed, in Somalia and globally.

Format

Three-day program

An intensive, in-person curriculum covering global and local governance, infrastructure and the digital economy, and cybersecurity, privacy, and digital rights.

Approach

Multistakeholder by design

Participants are drawn deliberately from across sectors, reflecting the multistakeholder model that underpins the global IGF process.

Alignment

Anchored to the IGF
